Albanian organic quality products at BIOFACH 2024
Nuremberg, February 2024 – Six Albanian producers of medicinal and aromatic plants and organic products returned from BIOFACH 2024, the world's leading trade fair for organic food, with 423 new business contacts. Contracts negotiated at and after the fair reached a value of EUR 7.65 million, well above the EUR 5 million result in BIOFACH 2022 edition. For AIDA, BIOFACH 2024 was also a learning platform. Each step, from company selection to post-fair evaluation, was documented and refined, strengthening the agency's ability to deliver trade fair services with growing independence.
The national pavilion was organised by the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA), with support from SIPPO Albania in collaboration with ITC Trade Promotion East and OT4D. SIPPO supported AIDA to organize Albanian pavilion at Biofach from 2019, applying the trade fair toolbox the two organisations have built together since AIDA's first BIOFACH pavilion in 2020: a structured company intake process, preparation workshops, exporter guides, business contact sheets and a results evaluation format. Beyond logistics, preparation focused on organic market networks and the sustainability expectations of European buyers.
In 2024, the exhibitors – Albanian Herbs (Durres), Biobes (Fier), Ekoprod (Korce), Natural Herbal EVR (Maliq), Shkalla Olive oil (Tirana) and Albkalustyan (Maminas) – brought together long-standing exporters and newer entrants. For Ekoprod and Natural Herbal E.V.R., the international exposure opened the way to buyers in both the European Union and the United States.
For AIDA, BIOFACH 2024 was also a learning platform. Each step, from company selection to post-fair evaluation, was documented and refined, strengthening the agency's ability to deliver trade fair services for market growing. The longer-term picture shows the value of repeated, well-prepared participation.
